A 35-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of thefts committed in churches islandwide.
On Jan. 3, police received a report on a bag stolen from a church along West Coast Road. This was followed by several similar reports involving other churches in the Pasir Panjang Road and Queenstown areas.
With the aid of CCTV footage, the authorities identified the suspect and arrested him along Geylang Lorong 6 on Jan. 13. Cash amounting to $1,619 was recovered.
Police believe the man, who will be charged in Court today, is involved in several other cases of bag theft across the country.
If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of three years, a fine, or both.
