Mr. Chung Kwang Tong, a council member of the Inter-Religious Organisation in Singapore, married his sweetheart of 10 years Ms. Jacqueline Yip, last weekend.
But it wasn't just any wedding, it was an inter-faith one — Mr. Chung is the secretary-general of the Taoist Federation Youth Group, while his wife is Catholic.
The couple started with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in the morning and later moved on to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. After that, the newlyweds headed to the San Qing Gong Temple for a Taoist ceremony, where according to The Straits Times (ST), Mr. Chung wore Taoist robes while Ms. Yip put on a Chinese "kua" or ceremonial wedding gown. Yet another event was held at the Regent Hotel, where other members of the Inter-Religious Organisation council were present.
Mr. Chung told ST it was heartening to see friends and relatives from all faiths and religions come together at the dinner."It's uniquely Singaporean," he said.
