The United States Navy's third Littoral Combat Ship, USS Fort Worth, arrived in Singapore two days ago for a deployment in the Asia-Pacific region that will last for 16 months.
The ship left San Diego earlier in November and conducted a variety of surface operations and flight exercises in the Pacific Ocean before docking at Changi Naval Base on Dec 29, IHS Jane's 360 reports.
Though the United States Navy has declined to reveal the Fort Worth's initial operations, the vessel is confirmed to be heavily involved in the annual bilateral Co-operation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise with other naval forces in Asia, as well as conducting trials for several military concepts and capabilities.
The earlier invitations sent out to the media for USS Fort Worth's arrival were cancelled due to the missing AirAsia flight QZ8501 incident.
