Mark van Cuylenberg, best known as the Flying Dutchman (FD) on radio channel Gold 90.5FM, is leaving MediaCorp after 18 years.
The 58-year-old, who was once described as a "hardworking guy" that can be liked to the "Energizer bunny" by former Class 95 colleague Glenn Ong, suffered a heart attack two years ago, forcing him to learn to let go of his busy schedule to "smell the roses".
FD has been in Singapore radio since the 1970s, starting out in Rediffusion. On top of his TV and radio work, he also runs his own entertainment company The Flying Dutchman and a wedding planning outfit called The Wedding Entourage.
FD broke the news of his retirement from MediaCorp on his radio show this morning, and will go on air for the final time tomorrow.
