Local artists transform everyday objects into uniquely quirky Singaporean artefactsOrdinary, unexceptional items such as t-shirts, boxes and watches get a distinctly Singaporean twist in this joint exhibition between the National Heritage Board’s retail concept Museum Label, hyperlocal product merchandiser The Farm Store and Hans Tan. The ‘EVERYDAY OBJECTS’ project showcases local designs which sees eight everyday items — t-shirts, timepieces, accessories, charms, bags, plush toys, vases and boxes — transmogrified into 40 creative objects that promote Singapore's heritage and culture, consisting of works designed by 32 selected local artists and eight winning entries from members of the public.  Notable works include Pei Qi Lee’s ‘THE RED DOT’, a watch that has words written in Singapore’s four official languages, while Roy Poh’s ‘STAPLES’, are keychains charmingly designed after chicken rice, nasi lemak and bee hoon. The exhibition will run at the Museum Label store at National Museum of Singapore until Jan 31 next year, where the public can vote for their favourite everyday object to be considered for future productions — more details available on the I Love Museums Facebook page.  Photo: I Love Museums Facebook page
