![Volks Auto car dealer still MIA, SMRT Ltd (Feedback) summoned]()
Two days and an increasing number of irate car buyers later, Mr. Alvin Loo, the owner of Volks Auto, is still nowhere to be found.
According to The New Paper, a group of around 30 had gathered outside the car dealership in Macpherson Road on Dec. 15 after suspecting they'd been conned of up to $40,000 each in deposits, but the place was closed, and had been, apparently, since last weekend.
More worried customers turned up yesterday clutching news clippings and their sales contracts after reading the report and the formation of a Whatsapp chat group, which reportedly now has more than 80 participants.
Many had paid the dealership a minimum deposit of $20,000, but had yet to receive their vehicles. One man, however, was not waiting to receive a new car, but was the owner of the only vehicle still on display at the cleared-out showroom, a white Bentley. He said his friend had put it there intending to trade it for another car, but the owner now wanted it back.
The Straits Times reports that several claimants had managed to get in contact with a Volks Auto salesman known only as Andrew, who said his boss would be back in Singapore soon "to settle all customer car issues as promised". Andrew also said that the police had already been in contact with his "boss".
In the meantime, someone's already summoned local vigilante page SMRT Ltd (Feedback), who's responsible for the recent high-profile campaign against Sim Lim Square bully Jover Chew, but it seems those folks have already picked their next target: Cuddles Cat Cafe at *SCAPE.
