Singapore's hoarding habits spill out into HDB corridorsMore than two-thirds of all Singaporean homeowners admitted to their hoarding habits, and with such cramped HDB capacities, it’s no surprise that their treasured junk are spilling out into the corridors.  Channel NewsAsia reports that the phenomenon of leaving bulky, unwanted items outside houses are on the rise. According to Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council, requests for their bulky items removal service have increased by 15 percent as flat owners carry out their year-end spring cleaning.  However, others are simply leaving their junk and old furniture outside their houses — there are around 13 such cases on a monthly average in Woodlands.  Sembawang GRC Member of Parliament Ellen Lee remarks that it is usually the older residents who have made it a habit to do so, and are the ones who are harder to enforce rules upon. Formal letters are sent out to residents guilty of leaving their bulky items along corridors, and if they are repeat offenders, Town Council officers will take action by coming down to the flat to intervene.   Photo: Mio Cade via Flickr
