Unsurprisingly, Singapore has turned up as one of the most expensive cities in the world for travellers, in particular our lodging costs.
A survey conducted by Berlin-based travel search website GoEuro revealed that Singapore is ranked 37th out of 150 cities in the Accommodation Price Index, and the third most expensive Asian city, well below Macao (3rd place) and Hong Kong (15th place).
The city taking the top place in the index is none other than New York, with an average of USD$246 per night in lodging costs. In comparison, Dubai averages around USD$142, London at USD$130 and Singapore at USD$94 per night.
The survey also indicated the most affordable hostels, hostels and Airbnb lodgings to stay in, with places such as Madeira, Budapest, Warsaw and Bilbao turning up as pretty good deals. Singapore does not appear in the list.
