After months of campaigning for actual enforcement and investigations against more errant retailers at Sim Lim Square, the Singapore Police Force have finally stepped in and launched investigations into two blacklisted mobile phone shops in the IT complex.
TODAY reports that De.Mac Gadget (registered as Mobile Apps) at #01-50 and Gadget Terminal at #02-80 have been raided by police yesterday, who left with several boxes of computers, receipt books and mobile phone sets.
The two retailers are among the seven notorious shops blacklisted by the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE) in their monthly consumer alert, following a number of complaints from customers. Respectively, Mobile Apps received seven complaints between September and November while Gadget Terminal acquired 14 complaints in the same period.
Police confirmed that they’ve started investigations into the mobile phone retailers following reports lodged against them.

The most infamous of the transgressors in Sim Lim Square, Mobile Air were also raided by police last month, though it reopened under the new name HJ Mobile and under a new manager, who bought over the premises from his former boss Jover Chew.
Some Sim Lim Square store owners have expressed their anxiety regarding the raids to TODAY, with some fully expecting to be raided in the upcoming months due to their blacklisted label. Others hoped that the authorities can outline exactly what is considered and offence, as some retailers may not be sure of what exactly they’ve done wrong.
