Mobile operator M1 switched on their warp drives and hurtled into first place in the race for providing the fastest 4G network service in Singapore.
M1 customers now get to enjoy up to 300Mbps of outdoor internet speeds nationwide, double the current rate of 150Mbps. The best part? Existing and new customers will not have to pay any extra costs to enjoy the high speed connections.
In comparison, their competitors SingTel and StarHub currently offer 150Mbps 4G LTE networks, with plans to enhance their speed only next year. According to Speedtest, our wifi speeds at Coconuts Singapore HQ only went up to 290Mbps, several bits short of M1’s new 4G network.
According to TODAY, rival telecommunications companies remain unruffled by the news, with StarHub maintaining that handsets that can support 4G networks will only go mainstream next year.
“We continually invest in our networks to ensure our customers consistently enjoy a better experience with us. In 2012, we launched South East Asia’s first nationwide 4G network with download speeds of up to 75Mbps, and further enhanced our network to 150Mbps download speeds nationwide earlier this year,” says M1 CEO Patrick Scodeller. “Today, we have yet again doubled the download speeds to 300Mbps nationwide, which our customers, who enjoy Singapore’s best-value smartphone plans, can experience at no additional charge”.
