A 38-year-old Indonesian man was charged in court on Nov. 15 over the alleged stabbing and attempted armed robbery that occurred at Raffles Green the day before, TODAY reports.
According to the local daily, the man identified as Arun on the charge sheet had been tailing Mr. Kang Tie Tie that afternoon near Raffles Place MRT station when he stabbed his victim in his right waist, right hip and right upper waist. Arun then grabbed Mr. Kang's sling bag and ran towards UOB Plaza, where he was captured by passersby.
Initial reports say Arun had thieved a laptop from Mr. Kang, but the sling bag actually carried close to $200,000 in local and foreign currencies, as well as cash cheques valued at about $600,000.
