Two Singaporeans were killed in a freak accident when they lost control of their Porsche 911 Turbo on the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway yesterday morning at 2.30am.
Drag racer Kwek Kon Chun and professional photographer Franco Toh were entering the Kuala Lumpur City Centre from Sepang when the sportscar they were travelling in skidded, crashed into the road divider and overturned, according to various media reports. A 20-metre steel rail from the road divider had impaled the car through the driver’s side, pinning both passengers inside. Both Kwok and Toh were pronounced dead at the scene.
35-year-old Kwek is the co-owner of the popular Neverland Group of nightclubs, and is an avid participant in various drag racing championships in Malaysia. In fact, Kwek had won a race with the same car a few hours before, according to Straits Times.
43-year-old Toh was Neverland Group’s regional marketing director.
Their bodies have been brought to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem.
