A tryst turned into a menacing case of terror when a 36-year-old man blackmailed his former lover for money in exchange for not posting compromising photos on the internet.
Earlier in September, a 42-year-old woman reported to the police regarding the case of extortion. When she recently ended her relationship with the man, the suspect threatened to post compromising pictures of her online unless she gave him money.
On Nov. 5, officers located the suspect in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 37 and arrested the man, who is also believed to be involved in another case of Criminal Breach of Trust as a Servant involving $68,000.
The man will be charged for the offence of Extortion, and may be punished with imprisonment for up to 10 years and with caning.
