The annual charity campaign President’s Challenge culminated into the one of the biggest amount seen in this year’s President’s Star Charity show, raising more than $6.32 million for 64 selected beneficiaries.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the amount exceeded the $5.1 million raised in last year’s edition.
Highlights from this year’s show included joint performances between established artistes and beneficiaries, including the collaborative set by the Ruan Xian Chamber Ensemble and the ‘Kolintang’ troupe from voluntary welfare organisation Ain Society.
Other than the usual roster of local medicorp artistes and celebrities, Malaysian songstress Yuna dropped by this year’s President’s Star Charity and blew away audiences with her singles ‘Rescue’ and ‘Escape’.
The encore telecast of the show will screen this Sunday on Channel 5. Donation lines are still open; more details on the official President’s Challenge website.
