Sim Lim shop in coin refund incident facing CASE probeMobile Air, the Sim Lim Square shop that reportedly forced a woman to accept a $1,000 refund in coins recently, is facing a probe by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE).  Lianhe Zaobao reports that the industry watchdog is checking if Mobile Air has violated the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act.  According to the local Chinese daily, the shop is not unfamiliar with improper marketing practices, having racked up 14 complaints via CASE between July and September this year.  The report also reveals that CASE plans to get Mobile Air to sign a Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA), which allows CASE to take them to court should they engage in unfair trading practices after the signing.  CASE can still apply for an injunction against the shop even if they refuse to sign the document.  Last week, a Ms. Zhou called the police when Mobile Air returned the $1,010 due to her as stated by the Small Claims Tribunal, in a 18kg bag of coins.  Photo: Wikimedia Commons   Read Also:  WTF: Woman gets $1k refund in coins at Sim Lim Square Reddit Gem: This is how Sim Lim Square deals with shady shops
