Four men – aged between 16 and 36 – were arrested for taking part in loansharking activities.
On Oct. 23, a female victim made a police report informing that the main door to her house has been splashed with paint and locked with a bicycle chain lock.
Officers from Rochor Neighbourhood Police Centre followed up with investigations, which included thorough interrogations and assessing CCTV cameras. The identities of the suspects were established, and they were later nabbed at Jurong East during an operation on Oct. 27.
Five handphones belonging to the suspects were also confiscated.
All suspects will face their charges in court today. Under the law, first-time offenders will be punished with imprisonment up to five years, a fine of at least $5,000, and also not more than six strokes of the cane.
