Audio-visual collective Syndicate returns to Club Kyo this October with UK Bass pioneer Untold, performing live together with a solid roster from the label including Kiat, Gema, Max Lane and Darren Dubwise.
Aside from running his own label Hemlock Recordings, Untold aka Jack Dunning explores the genre of electronic music through an intriguing blend of dub, techno and other genres into his bass-centric tunes. The label has become home to works by other notable producers including Mount Kimbie, Fantastic Mr Fox and James Blake, solidifying Dunning’s position as a tastemaker.
Untold’s own releases have also earned him high regards, with tracks such as ‘Anaconda’, and ‘Stop What You’re Doing’ showcasing his hefty approach to modern club music. Dunning’s career is defined as a highly evolving spirit of underground electronic music, taking listeners from his early dubstep inclinations to techno aspirations and as of this year, abstract sound paradigms.
Only a few months from the release of his engrossingly cinematic debut album Black Light Spiral in February this year, he surprised everyone with another album Echo in the Valley earlier in August — both of which serve to further unfurl the mystery of Untold. Catch him live at Kyō on Oct. 25; more details on the Facebook event page.
