A war relic apparently the weight of a female adult, was found and disposed of at a construction site along Telok Blangah Street 31 in an overnight detonation that lasted from Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon.
The construction site was part of the new Housing Development Board Build-to-Order project – Telok Blangah ParcView.
The Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive Defence (CBRE) unit, which was activated for the operation, described the relic as a fused and fired 50kg World War II aerial bomb.
After examinations, the Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team determined the bomb needed to be defused onsite. Police officers were seen going around residential blocks to inform residents about the impending detonation.
