Ethiopian road running athlete Haile Gebrselassie will be taking part in the 10km race category of this Decemeber’s Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore. This will be his first race in Southeast Asia.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time World Championship victor will be joined by 13,000 other participants in the 10km dash on Dec. 7. He has once accomplished 10km in a short 26 minutes and 22 seconds.
The 41-year-old long distance runner will also be holding various training clinics during his time in Singapore. He has expressed great anticipation in experiencing the “vibrant running scene in Singapore” which he’s been told by many.
“Everyone I’ve spoken with has told me the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore is one of the great events in Asia and I’m delighted to have chosen this race as my first running event in that part of the world,” said Gerbrselassie, via Channel NewsAsia.
