Singapore’s pioneer sportsmen are being honoured with free access to public swimming pools and gyms for life in recognition for all they’ve done for the sports scene during the nation’s formative years.
The announcement was made at a tribute dinner for sporting pioneers yesterday, held in conjunction with the official opening of the Singapore Youth Olympic Museum and the Singapore Sports Museum, says Channel NewsAsia.
The Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong was present at the event, thanking the community of pioneer athletes, officials and coaches for being inspirational role models for Singapore. They were encouraged to remain actively involved in the sporting scene and spur on the new generation of Singapore athletes.
