All new public housing developments, starting from the Build-To-Order flats in January 2014, will have dual bicycle racks that allow residents to safely park their bicycles at several points with a single lock.
Minister for National Development Mr. Khaw Boon Wan mentioned in a Parliament reply that there’ll be an average of one bicycle rack for every six household units.
As for existing public housing estates, bicycle racks will be installed at commercial areas and main entrances of new communal green spaces and neighbourhood parks.
Under the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP), there has been effort put into reassuring the safety of bicycle parking with new facilities too. The initiative also works toward funding more works and to cover older-generation towns such as Chua Chu Kang, Pasir Ris and Tampines.
