Happening Tomorrow: Candlelight vigil in solidarity with Hong Kong's Occupy CentralA public show of solidarity with the people of Hong Kong following the passing of an 'anti-democratic resolution' is being held on Wednesday, 7:30pm at Hong Lim Park.  Organised by Jolovan Wham and Rachel Zheng, the event supports Occupy Central, a civil disobedience movement rejecting Beijing's veto of chief executives chosen by Hong Kong, that has taken the region by storm.  On the Facebook event page, the organisers write, "We welcome all in Singapore to join in this candle light vigil to show support to our sisters and brothers in Hong Kong in their quest for freedom, justice and democracy."  Participants are encouraged to wear black with a yellow accessory, like a ribbon or an umbrella. Foreigners and Permanent Residents living in Singapore have however been warned that they need a permit to participate. "If you don't have a permit, you can come and 'observe'," said the organisers.  Photo: Wake Up Singapore
