1.4 million Singapore households to get free stamps amid letter tradition decline By Oct. 1, 1.4 million residential households across Singapore will have received a free stamp booklet consisting of six 1st Local stamps – at the increased postage rate of 30 cents each – from SingPost. 10 million stamps will be delivered in total.  This initiative by Singapore’s national postal service provider hopes to restore the practice of sending physical letters, which evidently has been overtaken by prevailing e-communication platforms such as SMS, email and social networking sites. Besides residential households, 130 charity homes will also receive 100 – 300 free SingPost stamps. Together with the free stamp booklets, SingPost has provided useful packaging and mailing tips that are useful for safe delivery. Consumers on the move can rely on the new free SingPost mobile app for basic information like location of nearest post office, postage fees and tracking packages. For more information, visit SingPost's website.
