A showdown ala MasterChef that happened at the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) yesterday resulted in ITE College West student Koh Han Jie being the first intern picked to work at Gordon Ramsay's upcoming Singapore restaurant.
The intense cookout that involved four participants perfecting three egg dishes — omelette, poached and soft boiled — in 10 minutes, was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, and determined who would get to work with the celebrity chef at Bread Street Kitchen when it opens next year.
Besides Koh, who described the experience as "the most intense 10 minutes of my life", there were also participants from At-Sunrice, Shatec and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Singapore, all currently in MBS internship programmes.
According to MBS CEO George Tanasijevich, the lifestyle destination has recruited over 300 local interns in the last four and a half years to their F&B training and mentorship programme.
