London’s renowned Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre will be performing their original production of the bard’s classic play A Midsummer Night’s Dream to the Esplanade Theatre this November.
Audiences will be treated to an immersive performance of the play, featuring Renaisssance costumes and staging, which will be directed by Globe Theatre’s acclaimed artistic director Dominic Dromgoole. The play has garnered rave reviews from numerous critics, including The Telegraph, who’ve praised Dromgoole’s “consistently inventive staging” and The Times, who’ve called it “a dream performance”.
Executive producer of ABA productions - the theatrical production company responsible for bringing Globe Theatre to Singapore - Matthew Gregory expresses his excitement for the upcoming performance. “This is an absolutely classic production, full of piety and imagination and I cannot wait to delight a whole new audience in Singapore," he remarks.
Their stop at the Esplanade is part of Globe’s largest Asia tour yet, taking their esteemed production to other places including Russia, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taipei and Kaohsiung. Globe Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is their second production to debut here, following last year’s The Taming of the Shrew, performed at Fort Canning.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream takes place at the Esplanade Theatre from Nov. 13 to Nov. 16. Tickets are on sale at Sistic from $58 to $148.
