With flying drones becoming a more accessible and affordable technology in Singapore, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) have deemed it fit to restrict the flying of unmanned aircraft during the course of the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.
According to Channel NewsAsia, CAAS has prohibited the flying of unmanned aircraft such as remote-controlled drones and hobby toys around places such as Toa Payoh, Marina Bay, Serangoon, Orchard, Sentosa and more from Sept. 18 to Sept. 21.
The measure is put in placed to ensure the safety of the public, and also to refrain from obstructing helicopters which will be conducting aerial filming of the race. Offenders of the prohibition may face fined up to $40,000 and 15 months imprisonment.
