The founder of recently shuttered Affinity Yoga Jeanne Chung, released a lengthy statement on the company Facebook page on Saturday, revealing that their two studios had indeed been "mismanaged", and that bad rep co-founder Nikki Haustead (aka Cameron Brown) is "no longer associated with (them)".
In the statement, Chung, a former investment banker, offered a short backgrounder on herself before updating followers on the company's current situation: "I was away for a major family issue for over a year and could not manage my studios directly during that time. As we all can conclude, the studios were mismanaged. And now they are now is serious (very serious) financial trouble. Please know three things. (1) I have not taken any salary for months, (2) I have put about S$100,000 into the studio myself so far this year to help to cover costs and (3) I have met with many many investors over the past days, day and night, in the hopes of finding someone who will take over. And I am doing everything I can so that all you students continue to have a place to do their yoga. this last point is my overarching goal."
She also emphasised her 'innocence', saying she had "no interest in screwing people over" and had gone to the police, whom she said have acknowledged she was "not running a scam operation".
Chung then concluded:
"Few things (1) I actually have no idea how to manage posts on FB as I am not a big FB user but I will figure out what's happening (2) Nikki Haustead is no longer associated with the studios and (3) I cannot make any definite statements about opening - like I said I am doing what I can and will let you know when I have a clear answer. I'd rather not over-promise and under-deliver."
