New ruling decrees imprisonment for negligent drivers involved in traffic death casesMotorists who cause death while driving will now be charged with jail terms instead of being penalised with fines.  In a landmark ruling issued yesterday, three High Court judges have decided that the default starting sentence for negligent motorists will be a imprisonment for up to four weeks, according to TODAY. However, the sentences will not be automatic as the court will study the conditions of each case.  The ruling was set out in in light of the recent case of negligent motorist Hue An Li who killed one and injured 11 others due to going 24 hours without sleep, where her sentence went from a $10,000 fine to a jail term of four weeks.  Photo: Land Transport Authority Facebook page Read Also: SMRT fires dangerous taxi driver after video goes viral
