Singapore multi-disciplinary artist Juliana Yasin diesSingapore’s visual arts community is mourning the loss of Juliana Yasin, who died today after a long fight against cancer. Born in 1970, Juliana studied at Lasalle College of the Arts before receiving a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Curtin University in Western Australia. A multi-disciplinary artist with a repertoire that included painting, installations, video and performance art, Juliana was a member of collectives The Artists Village and Plastique Kinetic Worms. Between curatorial duties back home, teaching in Kuala Lumpur and a research stint at the Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong, Juliana’s work was featured at over 60 exhibitions around the world. Earlier this year, more than 40 fellow artists had rallied to raise funds for her medical treatment with a show at Utterly Art. Juliana’s performances, productions and writing can be revisited online: Short Film: For the Love of Drowning For The Love of Drowning - Short Film from Nazim Esa on Vimeo.
