Property developer UOE is the first in Singapore to apply new cost and time-saving construction technology National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan talked about in a recent blog post.
Mr. Khaw said that the Prefabricated Pre-finished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) method, which consists of room modules fully fabricated with finishings, fixtures and fittings off-site and delivered to be assembled on-site, has been proven to be game-changing elsewhere and should soon be common practice in Singapore.
OUE will be applying the PPVC method to the building of the existing Crown Plaza Changi Airport's 10-storey extension building, which will house 243 rooms. This will total the hotel's number of rooms to 563.
The extension is set to complete in late 2015.
