A woman and her boyfriend are currently being investigating for attempting to deceive the authorities.
A man had made a police report about receiving a threatening call from his daughter's mobile phone. The caller had asked to meet in Woodlands to ensure the safety of his daughter.
Officers from the Jurong Police Division quickly acted on it and discovered the daughter and her boyfriend at Woodlands Town Park. When approached, the couple claimed to have been confronted by a group of unknown men, who later tied the daughter up.
Police found their reports to be inconsistent and upon further probing, found out that the couple had staged the entire thing to convince the girl's father to meet up to discuss their relationship.
Under Singapore’s law, anyone who’s convicted for providing false information to a public servant can be punished with imprisonment for a term of maximum one year, or with a fine of maximum $5000, or with both.
