Those residing in Woodlands will soon get a new retail and food complex located next to the Woodlands Sports Hall along Street 12, as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority's (URA) efforts to turn the neighbourhood into one of four business hubs outside of the city.
The $31.1 million project is set to finish in 2017, featuring a supermarket, a hawker centre with 80 cooked food stalls, five commercial schools, 60 retail shops and approximately 200 parking spaces.
The current Woodlands Regional Centre will be undergoing some redevelopment work, with part of the building turning into a shopping hub known as Woodlands Central.
The transformation project will also see a new slip road to Woodlands Avenue 3, relocation of flats to Woodlands Drive 70 by 2016, and a new interchange at Woodlands MRT station as it connects with the new Thomson Line by 2019.
