A 58-year-old man is currently under police investigation for allegedly lodging a false robbery report on Aug. 3.
At 4:36pm yesterday, the police received a call regarding a robbery involving the suspect and four unknown men on motorcycles at Kim Keat Link. The caller claimed the motorcyclists had hit his car and had assaulted and robbed him at knifepoint when he emerged.
After officers from Tanglin Police Division and Toa Payoh Neighbourhood Police Centre Crime Strike Force ran the case through extensive ground searches and close circuit television camera (CCTV) footage, it was revealed that the subject had lied. He later admitted to the false report during nterviews with police officers.
The suspect may face up to one year in jail or a maximum $5,000, or both, if convicted for Giving False Information to a Public Servant.
