Authorities have removed hundreds of dead fish from Pandan Reservoir so far in the past few days, but the process has yet to come to a halt.
Despite the clean-up, tests show the water quality was unaffected. PUB, the national water agency, believes the mass deaths were a likely result of the reservoir’s low levels of dissolved oxygen.
"This could be caused by a combination of factors such as dry weather, algae growth and decomposing organic matter taking up the dissolved oxygen,” a PUB spokesman told The Straits Times.
