Repeat offenders Shin KaiGai Travel Services (SKGTS) and company director Wong Kim Eng were found guilty on Wednesday, Jul. 23 for engaging unlicensed tourist guides for its tours on eight occasions between November 2012 and January this year, said Channel NewsAsia.
They have each been fined $7,500.
On April 9, three unlicensed tourist guides that worked with the travel service were convicted for feigning as tourist guides without a valid license.
“The STB takes a serious view against unlicensed tourist guiding and travel agents that engage the services of unlicensed tourist guides. Active on-ground enforcement is conducted regularly to ensure compliance and to deter unlicensed guiding,” said the Singapore Tourism Board in a statement.
"(It) is committed to upholding the integrity of tourist guide legislation and safeguarding the reputation of Singapore’s tourism sector, and will not hesitate to take necessary action against those who contravene the legislation."
