55-year-old Singaporean Yvonne Phua is being held by the Philippine authorities under the suspicion she's working with a couple there to illegally recruit domestic helpers.
She was arrested during a raid in the office of Michael and Joy Abellar in Manila, Channel NewsAsia reports.
The couple was also arrested, along with 11 other Filipinos.
The Abellars were apparently official representatives of the PEM Maid Employment Agency, which, though registered in Singapore, wasn't in the Philippines.
Ms. Phua has denied all allegations against her, including that she was in Manila to train illegal domestic workers before they were sent to Singapore, and says she works in the office in Singapore and was only in the Philippines on a holiday.
