Social contact: Besides food and water, it’s the only thing we can’t live without. But as technology becomes more sophisticated, and cities become more colossal, real and genuine relationships are harder to come by than ever before.
That's what this mega-viral commercial from dtac is here to tell you: Get out there and hug someone!
As one of Thailand’s largest phone providers, dtac is in the business of bringing people together through technology – but they also understand that there’s no replacement for human love.
The ad has racked up over 4.4 million views since being launched on July 1, probably in part because of the twist of a mobile provider encouraging folks to put down the phone and live a real life.
Watch it here:
Professors at MIT say that a second age of machinery is on its way, and around 50 percent of jobs will soon be done by robots. Experts are also worried that future generations will spend so much of their time sending short and snappy messages, they may never fully develop face-to-face skills.
To quote the great Albert Einstein: “I fear the day technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.”
That's why dtac has been encouraging folks to live in moderation and unplug sometimes – a message that has resonated heavily in technology-addicted Thailand.
