38-year-old Lim Leng Hwee has been fined $4,000 for attacking Roger Lian Yong Hong with a metal pole and hitting his head, causing swelling and a cut on his forehead.
Lian, a Manchester City fan, had been discussing Arsenal's defeat in a football match last December in an Ang Mo Kio coffee shop with two friends when an unidentified man had contronted them.
The man had demanded to know why the group was speaking so loudly, and according to Channel NewsAsia declared the area his "operational ground". He was then joined by two other men, one of whom was Lim, after which a fight broke out.
