Water's going on?! (Heh.)
Some not so common observations were made in the island nation of Singapore today, one the product of mother nature and the other, well, we honestly don't know anymore.
A waterspout — basically a tornado that occurs over water — was seen in the North East area of Singapore, namely from people located in the Jalan Kayu and Sembawang neighbourhoods. Waterspouts have been spotted in various parts of Singapore in this year alone, but it still surprises many citizens — despite its frequent occurrences in the tropics, Singapore with its minimal bodies of water is not a common host.
In the further West side of Singapore, another 'phenomenon' was observed. Something burst in Jem mall — the sprinkler system probably — sending a shower of water down shoppers patronising the ground floor. A reported 10 massage chairs that were on display were ruined. Soo Kee jewellery store, which was also affected by the 'rain', is expected to stay shut for awhile due to the damage.
Jem, which is located in Jurong, has had its share of mishaps. In fact, it's probably the shopping mall with the worst luck in Singapore. In November last year, shoppers freaked out when a glass door unexpectedly shattered, though thankfully, no one was injured. Earlier that same year, the ceiling above that level collapsed thanks to a burst water pipe. The mall was later closed for rectification work.
