Alvin Tan, of notorious sex-blogging duo Alvivi, now has an arrest warrant issued for him, after he failed to return his passport to the court in time - he's disappeared.
Alvin's lawyer, Chong Joo Tian told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court that he has no idea where his client is, and neither do the members of Tan's family.
fz.com reports that on May 12, the court had approved an application by Tan and his former sexblogging partner, Vivian Lee, to have their passports released in order for them to travel to Singapore to film a documentary about their exploits.
The court order stipulated that the passports were to be returned by June 4. However, only Lee has since submitted her passport back to the court.
"Tan cannot be contacted...by phone, email or letter...and his family members can't contact him as well. So we don't know where he is at the moment. That is all I can tell the court," said Choong today.
He later added that even his bailers could not contact Tan.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Haffiza Jemali subsequently asked for an arrest warrant to be issued for Tan. Judge Abdul Rashid Daud granted the request. Choong said the order was put into immediate effect.
The Alvivi duo, no stranger to stoking controversy online, exploded into national infamy last year when they published online an image wishing Muslims a happy Ramadhan fasting month while depicting the two of them eating bak kut teh, a soup made with pork, which is 'haram' for Muslims and is considered to be offensive even in reference.
The two are still facing charges under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948 for the content of their Ramadhan image, and under Section 5(1) of the Film Censorhip Act 2002 for the pornographic nature of their blog's content.
