National Solidarity Party (NSP) member and former General Elections (GE) candidate for Marine Parade GRC Nicole Seah, has spoken up about the defamation lawsuit involving Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong and local blogger Roy Ngerng.
Roy Ngerng, whose employment contract was recently terminated by Tan Tock Seng Hospital, had accused the PM of misappropriating Singaporeans' retirement funds and is now preparing to go to court for it.
Seah expressed on her Facebook yesterday (June 10) that she found the suit "thoroughly ridiculous on both parties", "It's been politicized (sic) to create a false underdog matyrdom, when the whole crux of the matter really is - Don't make false and damaging claims are are unfounded and steeped in lies," she wrote.
In the same post, she argues that the scenario is not what many think it is: an example of how 99 percent of Singaporeans are repressed and that PM Lee's response to Ngerng's libellous blog post is a breach of human rights.
In fact, it seems she agrees that Ngerng's claims are off the mark. "It's really a stretch to claim that the government is cheating us of our money. The issue is with mismanaged expectations... on how it's been allowed to be used for healthcare, housing, investment..." she said.
She finished the post by urging Singaporeans "to have (the) discernment to look beyond seeing a situation in a simplistically black or white fashion."
