The man who paid USD2.17 million to have lunch with Warren Buffett is the chairman of a company called AMES United which started out as hair-loss treatment centre Yun Nam Hair Care, Channel NewsAsia sources revealed yesterday.
AMES United is also behind London Weight Management and New York Skin Solutions, both operating in and out of Singapore. Chua's bid is more than double of what last year's bidder paid.
The two men will be dining at Manhattan's classic Smith & Wollensky steakhouse where shrimp cocktails sell for USD20 and ribeyes close to USD70 each.
Chua is the second Singaporean to have lunch with the business titan. According to an article on Bloomberg News, a man named Jason Choo paid USD202,100 back in 2004 for the same seat.
