One Andy Chua from Singapore has scored a lunch date with the third richest man in the world and investment oracle Warren Buffett.
Chua put in the highest bid on an eBay listing for the event, an auction held annually since 2000 in support of the Glide Foundation, which provides healthcare, housing and meals for the homeless in San Francisco.
The figure? A whopping USD2.17 million.
According to this screenshot of the eBay listing courtesy of Channel NewsAsia, 121 bids were made in total for the prize.
While it seems no one has been able to track him down — Haslinda Amin from Bloomberg says, "there are 25 Andy Chuas on LinkedIn, not one fits the profile"— the plan is that he and seven friends will be meeting the billionaire in New York City's Smith & Wollensky steakhouse, which also donates to Glide to be able to host the event, on a mutually agreed upon date.
Bloomberg also reveals that as in previous years, the lunch will last hours and all topics are open to Chua — the only thing he can't ask is what Buffett is going to invest in next.
In case you're wondering, yes, it's all-you-can-eat-and-drink.
