Yesterday evening, construction workers resting under a tree near Outram Park MRT station noticed a heart carved into its stump and were studying it when they made a shocking discovery.
According to The Singapore Army (SAF), a war relic was nestled in the crevice between two of its branches.
They reported it and a SAF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called in to investigate.
They identified it as a World II hand grenade.
After a police security cordon was put in place, the EOD team worked to dispose of the war relic, ending at about 12:45am.
