In an effort to clamp down on drink driving, the Singapore Police Force conducted an operation early Wednesday (April 28) morning, resulting in the arrest of 13 men and four women aged between 22 and 53.
All 17 failed their Breath Evidential Analyser (BEA) test, with the highest reading at 61 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath — twice the legal amount of 35 microgrammes.
Once convicted, each person will be disqualified from driving for a minimum of 12 months, and will have to give up their driver's licence for confiscation by the police. If that's not bad enough, offenders will have to retake and pass their theory and practical driving tests all over again.
