The police arrested a 71-year-old man yesterday said to be responsible for scrawling a series of messages on public property expressing his discontent over Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF).
He was first noticed after a report was lodged on May 23 by a member of the public about a defaced lightbox display board at a bus stop along Hill Street. The police later found another 11 bus stops along Clemenceau Avenue, River Valley Road and Victoria Street all containing similiar notes.
If convicted of his crimes, the elderly man will face a jail term of up to three years, or fined up to $2,000.
The matter is still being investigated by the police.
