The first time we heard anyone even mention "farmers' market" in Singapore, we got excited.
Our hopes of teeny (but homegrown) kangkong, rojak cheeses and even freshly baked bread were dashed when we realised all we were getting were supermarket (mostly imported) type products in what people here would call a "hipster" setting.
So when we heard about the Kranji Countryside Farmers' Market, we were a little skeptical.
But, this seems like the real deal.
Not only is the two-day event (June 28 — 29, 4 — 10pm) held at the far-flung-but-oh-so-rustic D'Kranji Farm Resort, it's also name-dropped some uber exciting local food producers as partners.
Amongst them: Edible Gardens, Ho Seng Choon, who're putting up some quail eggs for sale at the market, Mofo Chilli and Theo10 Natural, which grows neem to make natural skin balm.
