The Straits Times reported today that a 22-year-old security officer has been charged in court with one count of corruption, for accepting 'coffee money'— a whole 10 bucks — from a domestic helper, whom he had caught drinking water at Paya Lebar MRT station on February 20, 2014.
His job under Certis Cisco Protection Services Pte Ltd at the time was to conduct bag checks on commuters, but he had instead confronted the helper to tell her she would be fined $300 for consuming water at an MRT station.
When she said she didn't have the money for the fine, he asked her to place the $10 on his table and later blotted her name on the bag check list.
