![Local veteran singer Kartina Dahari dies at age 73]()
Iconic Malay artist Kartina Dahari died on April 30 at the age of 73.
Her death comes about four years after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Kartina Dahari was best known for the song "Sayang di Sayang" (Lover is Loved), written by Zubir Said, who also composed the Singapore National Anthem.
She featured in several black-and-white films and was a memorable TV and radio star from the '60s to the '80s.
Channel NewsAsia reports that the late "queen of keroncong" and the "first Malay singer to record English songs", leaves behind three children and three grandchildren.
