Agent 47, a reboot of the 2007 film Hitman developed by Twentieth Century Fox, is set to begin filming in Singapore on April 30.
This is according to a report by TODAY.
Both the film and its predecessor are based on the popular Hitman series of video games.
The film stars Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the rebooted Star Trek films and previously featured as Sylar in the TV series Heroes.
Rupert Friend of Homeland fame will play the titular Agent 47.
The TODAY report also revealed an announcement from Twentieth Century Fox that “a very well-known Chinese actress” will be starring in the film.
Paul Walker of the Fast & Furious franchise had been attached to the production before his tragic death in November last year.
Professional casting agency Hello Creatives posted two casting calls on their Facebook page earlier this month. The first sought background extras while the second was aimed at “very fit”, “ex-military” men with knowledge of weapon usage to fill stunt man and featured extra roles.
Details of the plot are still sparse, but it is expected to revolve around Agent 47 and a young woman – revealed to be a fellow genetically-engineered assassin – who is searching for her father.
